Conscious Evolution

Astronomers tell us that our Universe consists of 74% dark energy, 22% dark matter, and 4% ordinary matter; thus 96% of the currently “known” Universe is invisible and of an unknown nature.  Quantum physicists describe the world in terms of a superposition of quantum states which only collapse into a defined state upon being observed by a conscious being.  We humans no longer have a tenable logic with which to cling to a materialistic paradigm.  Our current global environmental crisis is not driven by the processes of the physical plane, but is rather a reflection of a lack of development within the invisible world of the human psyche.  The decision-making process on planet Earth has been historically kidnapped by laissez-faire economics, which, guided by neither wisdom nor compassion, is ill-equipped to support the evolution of human systems towards sustainability.

Solar philosophy is our approach to building a bridge between the dying fossil-fuel era and the awakening Solar Age.  The future of planet Earth is dependent upon the quality of our choices each and every day, and the Compassion and Intelligence that we employ in all that we do.  We are on a journey of discovery, exploring the possibilities of the human spirit, while seeking to articulate the principles of Love and Wisdom inherent in the path of Harmony.  We invite you to join us on this Adventure.

The State of the Earth

For billions of years, the surface of the Earth was covered with an Ocean of Nature, which very recently developed Islands of Humanity.  Now, our human islands have grown to become the ocean, while Nature has receded to biodiversity ecoislands.  Habitat loss is the number one current threat to Life on Earth.  Any less than about 70% wilderness and the planet loses its connectivity, its migrational resiliency.  Our conversion of forests, grasslands, and other ecosystems into human-dominated landscapes continues, while species go extinct daily.  All macroorganisms on the planet have measurable levels of industrial and agricultural toxins in their tissues, resulting in elevated levels of physiological stress.  The species in the ecological food chains act as bioaccumulators, while pollutants circulate around the globe.  Human activities also release atmospheric greenhouse gases, the continuing buildup of which is driving anthropogenic climate change.  The synergies that arise from habitat loss, ambient environmental toxicity, and unnatural rates of climate change, are driving the Sixth Extinction, resulting in the degradation of our planet’s rich biodiversity.  Human history is like a train headed for a cliff; some of us are looking out the window and saying we need to change direction, while the global corporate machine spends billions to keep us asleep.  And yet, I’m an optimist ...

EcoDesign and Policy

Both individually and collectively, a 21st Century imperative is the creation of Harmony in all of our relationships, both internal and external.  Harmony is the child of Love and Wisdom, which must temper and guide our instinct for seeking power over our World.  Modern science is an adventure, but we already know enough to manage the planet wisely.  Modern technology is a blessing, but the associated fluxes of matter and energy threaten the well-being of all Life on Earth.  We are challenged to become more conscious and compassionate in our guidance of the evolution of human systems.  We must explore new territory on the landscape of human possibilities, for we are the pioneers of sustainability, the authors of the future of the biosphere.  In our unfolding story arc, will we drift into the future in somnambulant numbness, or will we awaken the Life Within and find the path of the Hero’s Journey, a path with Heart and Vision?  Global sustainability will be built upon Green Design and illumined policy.  Here, at the beginning of the Third Millennium, we must awaken to the possibility of bridging the gulf between dissonance and consonance, between body and spirit, by creating solar-driven ecologically harmonious designs for all of our technologies, communities, and energy systems.  What’s needed?  Vision, boldness, action; if not us, who; if not now, when?
