Welcome to the Solar Age!

We find ourselves here on Earth in the early 21st Century at the fulcrum of the Ages.  We have arrived at this crossroads in time, with both an individual and collective choice - the path that leads to increasing environmental destruction and social disorder or the path toward planetary sustainability and societal harmony and health.

History has been written by a strange combination of genius and madness.  A brief review of human history and a sampling of what passes for the news of today reveals the shocking degree to which human nature appears to be mired in primeval instincts better suited for a time long passed.  Our current planetary challenges are numerous and diverse, the product of humanity’s procreative and technological success.  As the nations of the world awaken to the prospect and reality of anthropogenic climate change and seek to reduce our collective fluxes of greenhouse gases into the Earth’s atmosphere, we must shine an equally bright light upon two other closely related global environmental challenges:  loss of natural habitat and diminishing biodiversity.

With all the complexities and distractions of modern life, will we become the alchemists of the 21st Century and find the solutions that simultaneously address all three of these global challenges in time?  Can we cut through this Gordian knot of history and discover that these challenges are really opportunities to create new harmonious relationships between the peoples of the world and Nature?  If future generations are to inherit a world at least as interesting and beautiful as our own, the current trajectory of human civilization must be transformed into a sustainable one, requiring nothing short of complementary revolutions in science, technology, philosophy, design, and national and international policy.

What is the answer to today’s conundrum?  How will we find the illumination necessary to awaken in time?  Where is the map to guide us toward higher possibilities for ourselves and for the the future of the Earth and its magnificent biodiversity?  The answer, the illumination, the map are all provided by the Source of All Life - our Sun.
